RENTAL CARS IN FUERTEVENTURA, CANARY ISLANDS

The name of each Canary Island describes its very essence, as for the name of Fuerteventura island, that derives from spanish "elviento", which means "wind" and "fuerte", translated as "strong". In June and July, when the wind is particularly strong, the island hosts Windsurfing annual World Cup. Fuerteventura is the second largest of Canary Islands. It sits in the Atlantic Ocean nearby the north coast of Africa. Despite such a remoteness from Spain, Spanish charm and traditions are still here. Fuerteventura offers a variety of cultural and natural attractions, golden sandy beaches, excellent conditions for wind sports and an active nightlife. We suggest you to rent a car to better navigate the island, so you can see the main venues of Fuerteventura and its incredible landscapes, accurate roads, many attractions and have a lot of fun. You can get to one of Fuerteventura’s ports by ferry from one of the neighboring Canary Islands: Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Lobos and Tenerife. And many direct flights from European capitals or some Canary Islands are connected with International airport Fuerteventura (FUE).

The island is blessed with the beaches, that can be counted in dozens, and are the most obvious reason for visiting Fuerteventura. On the archipelago, this sunny and calm island is considered the one, that has the longest, infinite beaches. With a volcanic history of its creation, the beaches of the island are still covered with pure golden sand. The beaches in Fuerteventura vary from one part of the island to another, and, to travel between venues, car rent may be a good option.

Fuerteventura offers to its holidaymakers not only breathtaking beaches, it has many interesting venues worth to see. Betancuria Museum, located in a beautiful viewpoint right in the crater of a long-standing volcano, will reveal you the origins and traditions of the aborigines in antiquity. In the village called La Oliva you can admire the architectural structures where once lived the military governors. It is interesting to see the local church with a cubic-shaped bell-tower, and the entrance door, made of wood decorated with carvings made by local craftsmen. As soon as you open the door and enter inside, an amazing painting "Last Judgment" will catch your eye (like other paintings), as well as a magnificent painted altar. Near the village there is a volcanic cave with a depth of about 400 meters and a very solid history dating back for about 1 million years.

In Antigua tourists have a chance to see the pieces of traditional art and works of local craftsmen, visiting the craft center, as well as real molino (mill) and learn how it is built from inside. The local craft center offers an entire room dedicated to painting and archeology. You can also explore the large cactus garden and take a quiet walk to enjoy.

Isla de Lobos is an islet just in 2 km north of Fuerteventura and is perfect for a one-day excursion. It is accessible by ferry, that departs daily from Corralejo on the north coast. The constant sunshine and infinite golden sand make it worthy of another synonym: paradise, for sun lovers, for adventurers and fishermen. By the way, the last settler on the island was the lighthouse keeper, who together with his family left the place when the lighthouse became automatic.

Rural tourism is widespread in the Canary Islands and in Fuerteventura in particular. Island comprises a largely uninhabited nature preserve, that's home to diverse beautiful places, combined with traditional rural houses, where you can stay for a full experience of feeling like a local resident.

Corralejo Natural Park. Situated in the town Corralejo of Fuerteventura island, with the longest dune-backed beaches in the Canary Islands, like Playa del Moro, which lasts for about 10 kilometers from Puerto Remedio to La Salina, this park is home to endangered wildlife. Dunes have an organic origin because they made of a solid remains of mollusks' shells and other marine organisms. Windsurfing or kite surfing, both of which are very popular on certain beaches of Corralejo, as they provide the perfect conditions for these sports.

To make your holiday unforgettable, we advise you to go to see local chipmunks, which can be easily feeding right from the hand, and take time to try the local delicacies. For example, one of the traditional products of Fuerteventura is Mahorero - the cheese made of a goat's milk. The name of the cheese refers to a certain type of goat whose milk is used to make it. This term takes its origin from the language of the indigenous inhabitants of the Canary Islands.

Firstly, Fuerteventura island attracts tourists by its divine beauty and atmosphere. Another reason -  Fuerteventura is the least populated island, so you can spend a holiday in unity with pure nature in the atmosphere of tranquility. The tourist industry is still under development here, that is why sometimes you will feel like everything is stopped, especially at night. However, the endless beaches with its waves, an incredible vista of starry sky leaves visitors speechless. It remains an unspoiled beach, a symbol of wilderness and freedom. Fuerteventura is gaining popularity among surfers due to its unique wind conditions.  Each year more and more tourists come to the island for holidays. If we say that Fuerteventura is worthy a synonym of paradise on earth, then it will be difficult to argue, because beaches are open 365 days a year! Average temperature during the summer months reaches 27° C, while during the winter months it rarely drops below 20° c.
